What's in that Dance Bag, Part 1 (Organizer, Hair Spray, Hair Gel) & a few Tips

Here we go, dance season is underway! My daughter's first dance convention is in two weeks. Are you preparing for the dance competition season? Yes, it's only September, but competition season is fast and furious. Fall months, also known as "competition pre-season" are a perfect time to prepare.

Here are must-haves that go into the dance bag.

My Amazon associate links are included below for your shopping ease. These are not my products but just favorite picks for busy parents to help prepare for the dance competition world.

Essential Hanging Organizer, https://amzn.to/3t7scs7

This organizer has saved me countless times during the frantic earring search during a quick costume change since I can see in the clear zipper pockets. Pockets are on both sides to stick lots of different size items like pink thread, needles, a seam ripper, glue, band-aids, cotton balls, scissors, jewelry, pins, mints, extra costume parts, gloves, hairnets, hair bands, clips, or extra bobby pins. It's a super easy way to keep all the little things organized and visible, especially jewelry! Having zipper pockets is very important so little items don't fall out. The organizer has a hanger on top so it can hang on a garment rack. We just lay it flat into the dance bag for travel. Bonus points, 1. Clear windows to see when running low on items. Pocket labeling could also be helpful. 2. When your best dance mom needs to borrow scissors, she can grab them out quickly instead of riffling through the depths of a bag.  https://amzn.to/3t7scs7

Hair Spray,  https://amzn.to/48otPSj, we have tried many hair sprays but it's a clear win for us. It isn't sticky and holds amazing but the best attribute is that it dries instantly. https://amzn.to/48otPSj

Aussie, Instant Freeze Hair Spray 24 hr. Extreme Hold with Jojoba Oil & Sea Kelp, Extreme Hold.

Hair Gel, https://amzn.to/48jjJ54, we have tried so many gels but it's our favorite. It doesn't leave her head super hard & crunchy or leave white chunks behind. It holds her hair in place and eliminates fly-away hairs. It's not greasy and looks nice on stage (shiny but not over the top), which is all that matters to us. https://amzn.to/48jjJ54

Shine 'n Jam Conditioning Gel, Extra Hold, with Honey

Today's TIPS:

TIP 1: Keep things that can ooze out, spray, or spill in little totes with lids inside your dance bag. Wet or sticky items like shoes or costumes could be a big issue during a competition. Items that might work well in a tote are hair spray, gel, water spray bottle, lotion, sanitizer, deodorant, butt glue, static spray, or body spray.

TIP 2: Keep jewelry with rhinestones or sharp parts in a bag. Rhinestone jewelry will ruin every pair of tights in your bag with snags and runs, if they touch!

TIP 3: Keep colored drinks and messy foods away from costumes in the dressing room area. If you notice that a cup of coffee or a pink drink has been left near your space in the dressing room, it's okay to move it, be respectful of where you put it.

TIP 4: You can use a hard toothbrush to smooth fly-away hairs with gel. I grabbed a couple from the dollar store with the little cover that snaps over the bristles.

More to come soon!
